Universities of Cooperative Education
A university of cooperative education modelled on Baden-Württemberg’s has been in place in Thuringia since 1998. These universities have three year programs that provide considerable hands-on experience. While they differ from classic universities of applied sciences in their approach, they offer the same level of training.
Each university represents a partnership between a State University, companies and institutions. The university teaches the theory and methodologies, while the private partners provide field qualifications. As a consequence, students are treated almost the same as employees within the companies.
The Universities of cooperative education in Gera and Eisenach feature a broad curriculum tailored to the needs of industry.
