Homes and living environments can be inspire people’s creativity and motivation. Thuringia offers homes that range from a single-family house in the countryside to a fully refurbished historic villa in a prime city location. There is plenty of land for building - prices range from 30 Euro/m² in the country to 200 Euro/m² in the state capital of Erfurt. If you don’t want to build a house, you can rent or purchase a condominium.

Moritzstraße, Erfurt: Good-quality condominiums cost some 1,400 Euro/m² to buy in Erfurt and Weimar and 1,500 Euro/m² in Jena. Premium condominiums go for 1,900 to 2,300 Euro/m² in Erfurt and Jena. These prices are among the lowest for home buyers in all of Germany.
Renting in Thuringia is also much less expensive than, say, in nearby Bavaria. The housing market is really saturated with residential space, which helps keep rents down. To rent an apartment with 70 m² of living area, tenants will pay between 3 and 7 Euro/m², depending on its location and amenities.
