Furniture dealer will invest in Thuringia

09/05/2016 - Austrian XXXLutz Group is heavily investing in an e-commerce center.

The Austrian furniture dealer XXXLutz is building a new logistics and e-commerce center at the industrial area "Erfurter Kreuz" in Arnstadt. About Euro 70 mio will be invested in the new location and 400 jobs will be created in the years to come. The purchased plot of 25 ha is located next to the Japanese IHI Corporation and the Spanish company Gonvauto Thüringen GmbH in the premium industrial park "Erfurter Kreuz" in central Germany. 150,000 square meters will be covered by the new building including a state-of-the-art storage area as well as offices and training rooms.

According to the company, Thuringia has scored in the site selection process with its central location, the excellent infrastructure and the proximity to important logistics partners. In addition, the short term project implementation and the outstanding support of the Thuringian business development representatives were convincing.

With this new center the XXXL group is expanding its successful e-commerce trade. Besides warehouse jobs, this site will offer e-commerce specific positions for programmers, call center agents, and jobs in order processing.

The Lutz group operates 237 furniture stores in 9 countries and employs about 22,000 people in total. With an annual sale of Euro 3.9 bn the corporation, headquartered in Wels/Austria, is the second large furniture dealer globally.
