Record year for business location Thuringia
Investments from Daimler, Zalando, Bosch and Saturn
Investments of € 1.3 bn, more than 11,000 secured and almost 3,000 newly created jobs - 2011: will go down as one of the most successful years in Thuringia's recent economic history. Local companies registered record growth rates in the first half of the year. With a GDP increase by 4.1 %, Thuringian ranks 5th among the German Federal States leaving behind such economic power houses as Bavaria and North-Rhine-Westphalia.
Renowned companies decided to invest in Thuringia: Daimler AG is constructing a new engine production plant while Robert Bosch GmbH is setting up a competence center for batteries in Eisenach. The state capital Erfurt successfully attracted logistics centers for internet retailers like Saturn-Media-Holding (electronics) and Zalando (shoes and fashion).
Numerous companies have proved that Thuringia is good ground for growing one's business. For example, MDC Power in Kölleda (engine production), the Japanese-German joint venture IHI Charging Systems International (turbo chargers) or Masdar PV from the United Arab Emirates all expanded their capacities.
Thuringia's central location in Germany and Europe, a wide range of industrial and commercial sites, professional support to companies offered by the Economics Ministry and LEG - the State Development Corporation of Thuringia all stand in favor of Thuringia as an investment location. Training and qualification measures are set up in line with the employers' needs and subsidy programs, particularly investment incentives, guarantee an attractive environment for investments.back
