Thuringia’s education is top notch
Thuringia’s education system is one of the best performing of all 16 states in Germany, according to the latest ‘education monitor’. The monitoring is undertaken annually by the Cologne Institute for Economic Research on behalf of the New Social Market Economy Initiative.
Thuringia is in second place, just like last year, which makes it one of the leading lights on the German educational landscape. Using 12 themes and 93 indicators, the comparative study evaluates the extent to which each state in Germany reduces educational disadvantages, contributes to securing the supply of skilled workers, and strengthens economic growth. Thuringia ranked highly in most of the 12 themes that were monitored. For example, education is funded well as a top priority, when compared with other states in Germany. It has the best working conditions, a well-developed professional development infrastructure (second place) and good results with regard to integration, vocational training, tertiary institutes and mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (all third place).back
